Obituary for Ralph Edward Steele

Ralph Edward  Steele
Haysi, VA- Ralph Edward Steele, age 78, of Big Ridge Road, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Mr. Steele was born October 24, 1934 in Grundy, VA and was a son of the late Lon and Myrtle Chambers Steele. He was 1952 Grundy High School graduate and a U.S. Army Corporal serving in Germany from 1957-59 and was last employed at Central Auto Parts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Smith and Fran Stiltner and a brother, Donnie Steele.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Steele, three sons, Eddie Steele of Haysi, Tim (Missy) Steele of Roanoke and Chris (Whitnee) Steele of North Potomac, MD, a brother, Bobby Lee (Phyllis) Steele of Abingdon and 5 grandchildren, Hayley, Jared, Todd, Evelyn, Allie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18,2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder Jim O’quinn officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big Rock, VA. Grundy VFW Post #7360 will conduct military graveside rites. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bana Willis Jr., Pete Wallace, Jamie Willis, Jimmy Garrett, Joe Addison and Henry Farmer. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to funeral service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haysi Rescue Squad and Haysi Fire Dept.
