Obituary

Haysi, VA – Curtis Lee O’quin, age 78 of Doe Branch, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at his residence. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of Ethel Raines O’quin and the late Morgan O’quin. Mr. O’quin was the owner and operator of The Rug Shop up until his retirement. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky O’quin, two sisters, Sally O’quin and Betty Lou Deel, and a grandson, Nathan O’quin.
In addition to his mother, survivors include two daughters, Melissa (Harley) Colley of Haysi and Sherry (Gary) Frazier of TN, a son, Tony (Patricia) O’quin of Clintwood, VA, two brothers, Louie O’quin of Vansant, VA and Jerry O’quin of Haysi, a sister, Mildred Boyd of Grundy, VA, five grandchildren; Amber (Jason) Turner, Brandon Colley, Justin Frazier, Rayan Frazier, and Nichole (Matthew) Yates, a great-granddaughter, Hailey Turner, and his special dog, “Little girl”.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020 at Haysi Funeral Home with Shea Shrader officiating. Burial will follow in the O’quin-Deel Cemetery, Greenbrier. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10 at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com. Curtis was my cousin. Our families grew up together. He was a very caring and generous person with a big personality. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. His smiling face will not be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
