Obituary for Bert Morrison Stanley

BERT MORRISON STANLEY
Haysi, VA- Bert Morrison Stanley, age 92 of Berts Lane, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the home of Phillip and Sandy Owens. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Harrison and Phoeba Hill Stanley. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was a retired coal miner and member of UMWA 1258 and was of the Baptsit faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Stanley, a daughter, Donna Rowe,brothers, Ben, Ray and Bobby Gene Stanley and sisters, Maudie Mullins, Nora Mae Brooks, Louise Mullins and Oma Hendrickson.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby (Glenda) Stanley of Haysi, Eddie (Sharon) Stanley of Clinchco and Jerry (Pauline) Stanley of Haysi, two sisters, Tina Borum of Chesapeake Bay and Sonja Sheeley of Newport, grandchildren, Kiet Stanley, Kemper Stanley, Kenneth Stanley, Jennifer Malcome, Michelle Tiller, Nichole Sutherland, Lindsey Stanley, Stephen Stanley and Samantha Stanley and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Haysi Funeral Home with Shawn and Jeff Dotson officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, October 5, at Hill Ridge Cemetery, Clintwood, VA with Carvel Edwards officiating. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
