Obituary for Marta Diana "Diana" Reedy (Kilgore)

Marta Diana "Diana"  Reedy (Kilgore)
Haysi, VA – Marta Diana (Kilgore) Reedy, age 68, better known to most as Nan, Nanny, and Aunt Nan, departed this life peacefully September 7, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She had battled a second diagnosis of cancer since January of this year. She was born January 29, 1950 to Martin and June (Epling) Kilgore of Haysi, where she resided most of her life. She was one of five children; Billy Fayne, Joe Park (Jeraldine), Gary Keith (Chris) and Rebecca (Harold) Fuller. She was preceded in death by her daddy, Martin Kilgore in 2000, her brother, Billy Fayne in 2004, her mother, June in 2006, and also Precious their beloved four legged baby on April 25, 2018.
She has left to mourn her passing, her husband, Dennis Reedy, two children, Marty (Phyllis) Kilgore and Marlo (Bucky) Kiser, step-daughter, Trish Owens (Billy) Whisenant, grandchildren; Christopher Kilgore, Laken Taylor, Ashley Kilgore (Derick Viers), Austin (Chelsea) French, Donovan French, twins, Brayden and William Kiser, Mikey Lawson, Jr., Matt and Jordan Richardson, great-grandchildren; CJ, Logan, and Hailey Kilgore, Hayden Viers, Aubreille Taylor, Brently, Conner and Chloe French, Olivia, twins, Emma and Grace, Owen and Ava Whisenant, her sister, Rebecca (Harold), brothers, Joe Park (Jeraldine), Gary Keith (Chris) and two aunts, Lois Kilgore Davis and Patsy Kilgore, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Diana was a Christian woman who devoted her life to serving the Lord and sharing His glories with everyone she met. Diana was a loving, caring woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren and continues to influence their lives. To know Diana was to love her, her faith in the Lord and the love for her family shined bright on her smiling face. She was a member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church since 1971. She graduated UVA Wise in 1989 with a bachelors degree in education. She worked for Dickenson County School System for 30 ½ years, first as secretary then started teaching in 1991. She served on the Haysi Town Council, ran the Red Caboose Inn Bed and Breakfast for several years and worked in other establishments, Pizza Factory, Main Street Pizzeria and Grill and Fuller Store, after her retirement from teaching.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Danny Sluss and Matthew Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the Belcher Cemetery, Haysi. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Kilgore, Keith Kilgore, Brently and Conner French. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the funeral home where a service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for comforting, kind words, prayers, and all expressions of kindness and concern.
