BARRY R. OWENS
Vansant, VA- Barry R. Owens, age 58, of Rams Horn Road, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of Maggie Owens and the late Ausker Burton Owens. He served in the U.S. Army, was a coal miner and member of VFW Onsby Rose Post # 3782.He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brothers, Larry and Jerry Owens, a sister, Wanda Charles, a nephew Derrick Charles and brother-in-law, Cleamis Deel.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Pam Owens, a son, Jonathan Owens, two grandchildren, Mikey and Jade, four sisters, Linda (Doug) Coleman of Vansant, Brenda (Dee) Stanley, Deborah (Vendette) Deel and Patsy Deel all of Haysi and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Noah Kim Edwards, Roger Fuller and Jimmy Counts officiating. Burial will follow in Owens Cemetery, Vansant, VA.
