Vansant, VA- Evans Walter Ratliff, age 82 of Ardue & Jane Road, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Moses Pet and Edna M. Davis Ratliff. He was a coal miner and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Lois Ratliff and a grandson, Zachary Barton.
Survivors include six sons, Jerry (Lisa) Ratliff, Junior (Louella) Ratliff both of Vansant, Christopher (Becky) Ratliff of Davenport, Michael (Marlene) Ratliff of Rosedale, Timothy (Amy) Ratliff of Vansant, Ralph (Kimberly) Ratliff of Birchleaf, seven daughters, Deborah (Ralph) Hurley of Vansant, Garnie (Jerry) Howard of Patterson, Judy (DeWayne) Deel, Shelia (Mark) Deel both of N. Tazewell, Tina (David) Owens of Vansant, Rebecca (Kennith) Deel of N. Tazewell and Kimberly Kay Ratliff of Patterson, 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Kyle Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in Ratliff Family Cemetery, Big Fox. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the funeral home with a song service at 7:00 p.m. with Gospel Union.
