Obituary for Matthew Douglas ""THUMPER"" Turner

Matthew Douglas ""THUMPER""  Turner
Clintwood, VA- Matthew “Thumper” Turner, age 44 of Wilderness Lane, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home. Born in Wise, VA, he was a son of Rosie Smith and the late James Turner. He was a coal truck driver and member of Martin Freewill Baptist Church. Matthew loved hunting, fishing and chickens. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Elijah Heath Rose, grandparents, Millie and Leonard Turner and Angie and Truman Smith, three uncles, Eugene “Babe”, R.C. and David Turner.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Sherry Lynn Turner, five daughters, Amber (Robbie) Rose of Coeburn, Victoria, Miranda, Brittany and Jessica Turner all of the home, a grandson, Kayden (Crabtree) Rose, a granddaughter, Millie Kay Turner, three brothers, Vernon (Carla) Turner of Haysi, Michael (Michelle) Turner and Stevie Turner both of Clinchco, Uncle Hardaway (Norma) Turner, Aunt Pauline (Frankie) and Aunt Mary (James) and several nieces and nephews he loved dearly, special friends, Mike (Tonya) Willis, Dennis (Tanya) Wallace, Nathan (Chale) Taylor, Vinny Nash, In-laws, Wanda (Jamie), Bill Hall, Randy Hall, Brenda F. Hall, a loving mother-in-law, Brenda K. Hall, Anthony and Jane Rose, Mickey (Donna) Blansett and many more friends to many to mention.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Rick Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Stevens Cemetery, Neely Ridge, VA. Pallbearers will be Mike Willis, Robbie Rose, Bill Hall, Vinney Nash, Nathan Taylor and Jason Spell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Leonard, Dennis Wallace, Randy Hall, Vernon, Michael and Stevie Turner. The family will receive friends after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to funeral service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made toward funeral expenses.
