Obituary for Ray Blankenship

Ray Blankenship
Haysi, VA –Ray Blankenship, age 81 of Greenbrier, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Cephas and Rosa Deel Blankenship. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired coal miner, and of the Old Regular Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lesa Blankenship, and brothers, Lawrence, Cephas Jr., Jessie, and Raymond Blankenship.
Survivors include his wife, Gay Blankenship, a son, Rocky Blankenship of Haysi, a brother, Ralph Blankenship of MI, and a sister, Melba Browning of Wytheville, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Roger Coleman, Aven Viers, and Freddie Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the John Fuller Cemetery, Haysi. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
