I only knew grandpa Howell for 4 years, but it felt like I knew him much longer. He was one of those rare souls that you didn't need time to get to know, his gentle nature would put you at ease right from the start. Always greeted with a warm hello, he made us feel welcome and unless he was occupied elsewhere he would hug your neck and tell you he loved you before you went on your way. I consider it such a blessing to have had him in my and my children's life. He will be missed.
Grandpa loved squirrel hunting, raising tobacco and gardens, homemade biscuits with butter and honey, he used to have his own beehives and collected stamps. He had a big laugh and I always loved it when he'd burp at the table after eating good or taking a drink of a Coca-Cola. He had the biggest sneeze you'd ever hear too, which would scare you real good!
At dinner time, if you got to the table after he had already sat down and started eating he'd always say, "we're waiting on ya like one dog waits on the other". He told me a lot of stories about his WWII days. My favorite one was he said he'd trade his cigarettes from his food rations for chocolate and save it for the children he'd encounter. We laid him to rest today. I hope to see him again one glorious day. Love you Grandpa Howell.
I am sorry for my other message i missed and added a couple things that should not have been on the message. I want to say again so sorry for your loss. Praying for his blessed wife and family, and friends!
