Rick was an intelligent, humble friend and colleague that was always willing to help. I never knew Rick to get upset or run out of patience. When Autumn, my daughter, had spine surgery Rick would call to check on her to make sure she was doing O.K. This simple act of kindness meant the world to us knowing how busy he was that he could take time out of his day to check on Autumn and me. You will be truly missed my friend!!! This world has definitely lost a great person.
So sorry for your loss! Rick was a co-worker of mine from long ago and I considered him a friend as well. Rick was always a great guy! Rick will be missed. Prayers for peace and comfort for Rick's family.
Rick was smiling as he watched over this day of paying tribute to his time with some of us! Laughing at some... I know you were glad to see the plane go. You and Emily were pretty good sports to have flown in it. Then when the rain came it was like cleaning the air. Fresh and crisp. Stopped just in time for us to leave. Everyone did a great job and there was a good crowd. He was highly thought of and so are you. You are never alone, God is always there. If you ever want to talk, just call. I love you.
Beth, Emily, & Family, I am so sorry for your loss and my heart aches for you. May God wrap you in his arms and give you strength during this difficult time. Rick was a kind and caring man and I will never forget him.
Words seem inadequate to express the value that Rick brought to MECC. He was a wonderful colleague and friend. Sending my deepest condolences and many prayers to Beth and Emily.
A very sad day for me and my wife. ..We lost a dear friend ...Although, we have not known Rick not that long... But we felt his support and concern throughout our stay in Southwest Virginia... He came to our Department not knowing what to expect or what was ahead of him. It was a mighty task and w/o the help of some other great people that have gone on before him, it would have been an even harder task. Joanne Leonard VA Highlands (now deceased) and also Rodney Wallace) Virginia Westeren ( also deceased) helped make his transition a little easier. The knowledge they shared with our college was invaluable. Rick made stead fast friends with the folks in Roanoke and got his feet firmly planted on the ground. From there he was like a living sponge and he was always reading , testing, growing. Certifications were rapid. And deserved. He almost was not breating... He was young and ambitious. But intelligent and gentle and kind. And I loved him and admired him.
