Obituary for Darrell Clayton Owens

Darrell  Clayton  Owens

Birchleaf, VA- Darrell Clayton Owens, age 54, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, TN. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of Naomi Owens and the late Virgil Owens. He was last employed as a coal miner and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny, Gary, Jerry and Carter.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Freda Owens, a daughter, Kimberly (James) Owens of Haysi, a granddaughter, Katelyn Owens, a grandson, Colton Owens, three brothers, Ricky Owens and Willard (Diana) Owens both of Birchleaf and Dean (Karen) Owens of Hurley, a sister, Wilma (Jim) Hearl of Birchleaf, a special companion, Charlene Turner and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Garnell Gilbert, Roger Fuller and Noah Kim Edwards officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25, in Nathan Edwards Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Pallbearers will be B.J. Turner, Clarence “Topsy” Counts, Tim Triplett, Mike Bartley, Jeff Owens and Jason Hall. Joe Lineberger will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to funeral service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers his family requests donations to be made to Haysi Funeral Home.
