Obituary for Guy Clayton Cumbo

Guy Clayton  Cumbo
GUY CLAYTON CUMBO
Haysi, VA- Guy Clayton Cumbo, age 89, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late James Harvey and Alta Baker Cumbo. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was last employed as a coal miner and was a UMWA member and also a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lee Oma Cumbo, children, Lana Arbutus (Darrell) Owens of Haysi, Janice (Carson) Stanley of Abingdon, Christine Kay Edwards of Clintwood, Wilma Lee Barton of Bristol, Doyle Fayne (Teresa) Cumbo of Haysi, Norman Van (Veronica) Cumbo and Karen (Jeff) Thomas both of Clintwood and Waymon (Debbie) Cumbo of Vansant, a sister, Carma Hensley of Abingdon and a brother, Claude Cumbo of Abingdon, 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Coyle-Cumbo Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers. Grundy VFW Post #7360 will conduct military graveside rites.The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the church with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
