Burnard Younce

Haysi, VA – Burnard Younce, age 77 of Tivis Ridge, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, TN. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Claude and Vada Edwards Younce. He was a retired equipment operator and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elster, Donald, and Leon Younce.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Younce, a son, Gregory Younce of Haysi, two daughters, Marsha Turner and Lydia Edwards both of Haysi, three sisters, Kathleen (Adron) Counts, Betty (Virgil) Sykes, and Sheila Branham, three brothers, R.C. Younce, Larry (Sue) Younce, and Clifton (Margaret) Younce, grandchildren, LaDonna O’quinn, Chelsie Turner, Jessica Smith, Katie Slemp, Nathaniel Edwards, and Kendra Edwards, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder David O’quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Tivis Ridge. Pallbearers will be Avery Mullins, Phillip Stanley, Tim O’quinn, Brad Mullins, Darnell Wallace, Dwayne Wallace, and Jon Looney. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
