HAYSI – Danny Bruce Hackney, age 64 of Welcome Lane, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Born in Grundy, VA on May 25, 1958 to Lettie Magaline Deel Hackney and the late Daniel Hackney. He was of the Baptist faith, an avid blue grass musician and fan, and was a retired coal miner.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Kristopher Hawkins, brother-in-law, Edsel Lambert and special sister-in- law, Shirley Hackney.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca Robinson Hackney, three daughters, Tabitha Hackney, Sabrina (Luke) Dales, Megan Hackney, step-daughter Shasta Yates, four grandchildren, Harley Dales, Mason Hackney, Kinsley Dales, and Miley Fuller, one sister Lavonne (Eddie) Baker, three brothers, Paul Hackney, Jeffrey Hackney and Kelly Hackney and a lot of loved nephews and nieces and some very special nephews and a niece, he thought of as his own children, Scott, Daniel, Jay and Patsy.
Funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Haysi Funeral Home. with Mike Boyd officiating. Burial will following the A.F. Deel Cemetery, Rakes Ridge. Pallbearers will be Luke Dales, Mike Boyd, Paul Hackney, Daniel Hackney, Jeffery Hackney, Sr., Jeffery Hackney, Jr., Kelly Hackney, and Scott Hackney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harley Dales, Elmer Dutton and Scotty Deel.
