Obituary for Ray Deel
BIRCHLEAF – Ray Deel, age 62 of Rakes Ridge Road passed away Monday March 20, 2023 at Dickenson Community Hospital. Born in Grundy, VA he was a son of the late Noah Deel, Jr. and Pinkie Deel. He was a member of Big Prater Baptist Church, a 1978 graduate of Haysi High School and was last employed as a coal miner.
In addition to his biological parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Earnest “Dock” and Martha Jane Deel.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Catherine Deel, daughter, Adrienne (Rob) Kendall, Boones Mill, VA, two granddaughters, Mackenzi Kendall and Haleigh Kendall, one brother, Ferrell (Coleen) Deel, Clintwood, VA and mother-in-law, Virgie Slone.
Funeral Services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Haysi Funeral Home will Jeff Rasnick officiating. Burial will follow in the James P. Deel Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to service. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
