BIRCHLEAF- Anna Rae Owens, age 93 of Aarons Drive passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at her home. Born in Buchanan County she was the daughter of the late Parkas and Dixie Mullins Epling. She was a homemaker and a member of Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Roby Owens, grandson, Danny Ray Owens, great-grandson, Tucker Lyall and brother, Arch Epling.
Survivors include three sons, Rex (Barbara) Owens, Blane (Kim) Owens, and George (Debbie) Owens all of Birchleaf, VA, four daughters, Dixie (Paul) Hagy, Leemaster, VA, Kathy (Art) Owens, Prater, VA, Cassie (Andy) O’quinn, Prater, VA, and Marti (Kevin) Owens, Beckley, WV., one sister, Sharon (Eddie) Stanley, Lebanon VA, twenty grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders, Roger Fuller and Jimmy Counts officiating. Burial will follow in the Owens-Jackson Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Pallbearers will be Joey Owens, Elijah Owens, Josh Owens, Barry Sutherland, Lucas Cress, Terran Owens, Dwayne Owens and Shawn Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Triplett, Anthony Anderson, Robert Deel and Jim Deel.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Elder Shawn Dotson officiating.
