Billy Gerald Lyall
Harman, VA – Billy Gerald Lyall, age 78, passed from this life Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family. Gerald was born April 28, 1944. He was the son of the late Erick M. and Snowda Edwards Lyall. He was a Christian and member and deacon of Sumac Grove Primitive Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member since 1999. Gerald was a coalminer and loving husband and daddy. He loved attending church and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and spoiling his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Otis, Carlos, Carold, Clarnie, Montegue, Glenn, and Furrell Lyall, a sister, Esther Edwards, and two infant sisters, Beulah and Martha.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Judy (Yates) Lyall, two daughters, Lisa Lyall of Harman and Angela (Jimmy) Johnson of Harman, a son, Kevin (Amy) Lyall of Harman, grandchildren, Brandon Lyall, PFC Drew Lyall, Isabella Johnson, and Parker Johnson, a brother, Goebel (Kathy) Lyall of Clinchco, VA, two sisters, Jean (Bud) Moore and Sharon (Kermit) Mullins both of Clintwood, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Noah Kim Edwards and Jimmy Counts officiating. Burial will follow in the Nathan Edwards Cemetery, Edwards Ridge. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1 at the funeral home where a service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Elders Ked Stacy and Henry Cantrell.
