Obituary for Erman Owens
BIRCHLEAF, VA-Erman Owens, age 75 of Toy’s Lane passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He was the son of the late Toy and Zella Deel Owens. He attended Haysi Church of Christ and was last employed with Dickenson County Schools. He started his teaching career at Dog Branch Elementary, was a Guidance Counselor at Sandlick Elementary, Director of Title I for Dickenson County Schools, Vice Principal at Haysi High School and was last employed in administration at the Dickenson County School Board Office.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Eulene Rodziewicz and two brothers, Emory Lee Owens and Jim Owens.
Survivors include his wife Marlene Owens, three sons, Ethan (Patti) Owens, Coeburn, VA, Blake (Rebekah) Owens, Wise, VA and Donald Owens of Haysi, VA. Four grandchildren, Taylor, Lexie, Catie and Ezekiel, three sisters, Evelyn Elaine Dinunzio, Lebanon, VA, Eva Jo (Larry) Durey, Bedford, VA, Eula Fay (Steve) Bailey, Sho Low, AZ, four brothers, Ermel (Donna) Owens, Haysi, VA, Ernest Reed (Adrena) Owens, Roanoke, VA, Eric Owens, Lebanon, VA and Edgar (Bonnie) Owens of Piney Flats, TN also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at Haysi Funeral Home with B.J. Souleyrette officiating. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. prior to funeral services.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Bartley-Wallace Cemetery, Wagon Trail, Haysi, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
