HAYSI - Darrell Yates, age 69 of Welcome Lane passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. He was a retired coal miner and recently retired from driving a school bus. He was a loving husband as well as an amazing father and papaw. There are no words to express the influence he had in our lives. He loved to spend time with his family, friends and share his Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ervin and Pearlie Yates. Survivors include his loving wife, Debbie Yates, two daughters, Tabitha (Brian) Keen and Tonya (Tony) Barton. four grandchildren Cannon and Maddox Barton and Kiersten and Easton Keen whom thought there was no one like their papaw.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 at Haysi Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Sluss and Elder Earl Dean Yates officiating. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. prior to funeral services. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 17, 2022 at the Yates Cemetery, Greenbrier with Jeff Tiller officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Keen, Tony Barton, Donnie Turner, Michael Yates, Avery Yates, Dexter Yates, Daniel Turner and Donovan Turner.
