Vansant, VA – Temple Gilbert, age 73 of Hurricane Creek Road passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Omar Scott and Aeolus Presley Lockhart. A 1965 graduate of Council High School, Temple was a cosmetologist for 53 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Scott Lockhart, Weinthal Lockhart and Dean Lockhart and sisters, Reva Bedwell and Hazel Boyd.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Garnell Gilbert; a sister, Marla (BJ) Jackson of San Antonio, TX; nieces and nephews, Michaiah Jackson, GW Bedwell, David Lockhart; Regina and Bobby Murphy, James and Maggie Gilbert, Debbie and Michael James, Angel and Jeffrey Helton, Rita and Allen Presley, Tammy and Harvey Helton, Anita and Denver Owens, Donna and Eddie Carter, Martha and Wade Compton, Diane and Danny Duty, Shawna McCall, Ricky Gilbert and Randall Gilbert.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Edward Tiller and Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Presley Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Pallbearers will be Allen Presley, Wade Compton, Denver Owens, Bobby Murphy, Michael James, James Gilbert, Jeffery Helton, Harvey Helton, Eddie Carter, David Lockhart, GW Bedwell, Danny Duty, Ricky Gilbert and Randy Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers will be BJ Jackson, Garnett Stevens, Don Gilbert, Dr. Clint Sutherland and Dr. Tamara Musgrave.
