Abingdon, VA – Clifford Carroll Edwards, age 82, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his residence. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Arcie and Esther Deel Edwards. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, retired truck driver and member and deacon of Millers View Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Edwards and a sister, Fairy Alene Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Arrington Edwards, son, David (Tammy) Edwards of Riverview, FL, a daughter, Debbie (Eric) Nicholson of Sanford, FL, step-children; Wanda (Robert) Coleman of Elk Creek, VA, Kathy (Vester) Deel of Abingdon, VA, Jeff (Kim) Ramey of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Jonathan Ramey of Chucky, TN, and Anthony (Angie) Ramey of Bristol, VA, a brother, Frank Edwards of Lebanon, VA, a sister, Ruth White of Abingdon, VA, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a special caregiver, Peggy Gillespie, and his best friend, his dog, Bella.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Noah Kim Edwards, Garnell Gilbert, Jim Duty, and Hoey Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens, Lebanon, VA with military rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Millers View Church and Dee Stanley.
