Grundy, VA – Beatrice Ann Byrd, age 74 of Prater, Virginia gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Born on February 7, 1947 she was the daughter of the late Toy and Bonnie Blankenship of Prater, Virginia. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was of the Christian faith, enjoyed crafting, playing games, camping, fishing, and most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Blankenship and Jamia Sue Oquinn; two brothers, Bobby Blankenship and Gary Blankenship; and one grandchild Maryie Byrd.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jimmy Byrd of Okeechobee, Florida, one grandchild, Madison Byrd, sister, Mary (Jackie Deel) Bailey of Vansant, Virginia, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving is special niece Debbie Oquinn.
She was a delight to those of us who had the pleasure of knowing her, she was witty, full of laughter, and could light up a room with her smile. She will be missed and always loved dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Roger Coleman, Denny Deel, Mark Justice and Jackie Yates officiating. Burial will follow in the Paris Deel Cemetery, Russell Prater, VA. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Bailey, Timmy Oquinn, Gregory Oquinn, Thomas Lester, Jake Stiltner and Robbie Blankenship. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the church where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
