VANSANT, VA- Charles Boyd age 75, of Wood Hollow Road, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Buchanan General Hospital. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Ardue and Jane Boyd. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA and a member of Coleman’s Chapel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Woods Boyd; sisters, Carlie Clevinger and Ellie Boyd and brothers, Marshall Boyd and Estel Boyd.
Survivors inlcude his daughter, Audra (Ed) Cortez of Berea, KY; son, Michael (Angie) Boyd, Prater, VA; grandchildren, Phantasa (Ricky) Rose, Tanner (Brooke) Boyd, Kaylee Cortez, Charlie Boyd, Bryan Taylor and Joel Cortez; great grandchild, Jaiden Taylor; two sisters, Thelma Lester and Ann Lou Colley and brothers, Jim (Birchie) Boyd, David (Wilma) Boyd, Ferrall (Sue) Boyd, Steve (Regina) Boyd, Bill Boyd and Robert (Linda) Boyd.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, May 17, 2021 at Coleman’s Chapel with Lilly Thacker, Darrell Thacker, Mike Boyd and Ed Cortez officiating. Burial will follow in the F.M.F. Boyd Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Pallbearers will be Forrest Charles, Tanner Boyd, Bryan Taylor, Joel Cortez, Charlie Boyd, Harold O’Quinn, Ray O’Quinn and Ricky Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be John Raines and his church family.
