Haysi, VA – Judy D. Charles, age 77 of D O Road, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, VA. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie O’Quinn and Flornia Deel Charles. She was a homemaker and of the old regular Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Charles; daughters, Becky Owens and Kitty Charles, a sister, Pansey Chambers and brothers, George Charles and Denver O’Quinn.
Survivors include her children, Pam Owens of Prater, VA, Nancy (Bob Huffman) Woods of Honaker, VA, Brian (Tammy) Charles and Russell (Brenda) Charles both of Prater, VA; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jonathan Owens, Nichole Umberger, Dwayne Woods, Mark Woods, Tammy Woods, Jennifer Woods, Dylan Woods, J’Tory Charles, Brian Charles, Ayden Bowman, Brentley Blankenship, Eli Blankenship, Blake Blankenship, Rachel Long, Jessica Long, Casen Compton, Bricley Umberger, Hunter Sloan, Colt Sloan, Jake Woods, Christopher Hill and Alesha Kiser; and siblings, Sue (Ray) Wolford, Phoebe (Jeff) Fuller, Dory Glidden, Daniel (Delores) O’Quinn, William (Wilma) O’Quinn, Roxie O’Quinn, Tammy Deel and Connie Deel.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Eddie Newsome, Jim Blankenship and Jerry Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in the Charles and Deel Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
