Obituary for Robert Keith Bailey

Robert Keith Bailey, age 58, of Route 1 Haysi passed away Friday February 5, 2021 at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a sudden and brief illness. He was born October 30, 1962 to Edith Fields Bailey and the Late Willie A. Bailey. He was the Valedictorian of Haysi High School Class of 1981. He pursued a career in pharmacy and graduated from the Medical College of Virginia. He also graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD). He worked at Buchanan General Hospital as the Director of Pharmacy for over 20 years. Then he was the pharmacist at Haysi Drug Center where he served his customers and community with a helpful heart and cheerful smile.
He is survived by three brothers, Willie Dale (Gayle) Bailey, James D (Sandra) Bailey, and Ronald Glenn (Judy) Bailey. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Zebulon (Donna) Bailey, Holly (Mark) Baker, Donna Bailey O’Quinn, Marsha (Mike) Owens, David (Chrissie) Bailey, Jennifer (Jamie) Boyd, and Geneva (Mickey) Wood. He also had Great-Nieces and Nephews Bethany, Adam and Olivia Bailey, Morgan and Blake Bailey, Noah and Jesse Baker, Kaitlyn, Amelia and Preston O’Quinn, Gracie, Luke, Jacob and Saydee Owens, Isaiah and Abram Wood, and Madison Childress, Landon Boyd, and Makayla Bailey. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God and was a loyal servant to God. He also was the primary care giver for his Mother for 13 years. He cared for her with heartfelt honor and compassion. Robert enjoyed time with his family and playing with the children. He also loved traveling, Broadway, summer cookouts and much more. Had had a special love for his Haysi Drug family.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, at the Looney-Bailey Cemetery, Breaks with Elder Eddie Newsome. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Clint Sutherland, David Thornsbury, Joel Thornsbury, and Jason Bell. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the funeral service.
