Donna Elene Smoot
Clawson, MI – Donna Elene Smoot, age 95 of Road Branch, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Born July 13, 1925 in Dickenson County, she was the daughter of the late Rodalph and Mazie Lyall Salyer. She retired in 1988 from Dan River Textile Mills. She was a homemaker and active member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church. She graduated from Haysi High School and Business College in Danville, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smoot, two brothers, Trimble and Trinkle Salyer, and two sisters, Pearlie Mullins and Hester Salyer.
Survivors include a special niece, Peggy Sue Wood of Clawson, MI, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Monday, January 4, 2021 at Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Sluss officiating. Burial will follow in the Salyer Cemetery, Clinchco, VA. Nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service.
