Obituary for Adeline Duty (Lockhart)

Vansant, VA- Adeline Lockhart Duty, age 72 of Davenport, went to be with the angels on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at her home. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Dorothy Lockhart. She was a homemaker, a mother, grandmother and member of Swamp Community Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Brady, Oakie and Palmer Lockhart, one sister, Betty Ruth Lockhart, a sister-in-law, Betty Lynn Lockhart, a brother-in-law, Don Compton, a nephew, Chuck Lockhart, a niece, Carolyn Compton and a beloved cousin, Finley Lockhart.
Survivors include a daughter, Misti Renee Duty of Hurricane Creek, a son, Jackie Wayne (Kitty) Duty of Chilhowie, two Godchildren, Spencer Swiney and Lonnie Jo Swiney of Clintwood, a sister, Snoda Compton of Fairborne OH, brothers, Cannie Lockhart of Woodbridge, Mason (Linda) Lockhart of Reedsville, Howell Lockhart and Randal (Wanda) Lockhart both of Hurricane Creek, an aunt, Ella Ball of Marion and several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed reading, working puzzle books, watching her favorite t.v. programs, going to church, talking on the phone with friends and spending time with her family especially her nephew, who she called her blue eyed, blonde haired monster, Alexander. They had a very special relationship.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Lockhart Cemetery, Vansant, VA.
