Vansant, VA- William H. Runyon Jr., age 87, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2020 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth Duty Runyon. He was a retired coal miner and loved sports, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Duty View Primitive Baptist Church for 41 years, he loved going to church and spending time with his family. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Runyon, sisters, Rosie, Crissy, Mae, Carrie, Thelma, Mary Jane and Blanche, brothers, Lee, Tivis and Holliday.
Survivors include his wife of 66 yrs. Agnes Runyon, sons, Vester (Lori) Runyon of Vansant and Clayton (Judy) Runyon of Ligonier, IN, daughters, Rhonda Coleman, Lynn (Rick) Cornett, Ann (Roger) Jackson all of Vansant and Sandra (Jim) Gayheart of Ligonier, IN, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders, Garnell Gilbert, Jim Duty, Shawn Dotson and Noah Kim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Runyon Cemetery, Vansant, VA with Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Duty View Primitive Baptist Church and Dr. Kabaria. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. with Elders Barrett McGlothin, Jim Duty and Garnell Gilbert officiating.
