Haysi, VA- Edith Fay Thomas, age 69, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Lucy Viola Deel Hackney. She was a homemaker and was last employed at Newberry’s Supermarket and E&S Grocery and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Aubert Coleman, husband, Tony Thomas and brothers, Johnny Keith Coleman and Ernest Hackney.
Survivors include two sons, Tim (Amanda) Thomas of Haysi and Gary (Gracie) Thomas of Jenkins, KY, a daughter, Jennifer (Rekis) Johnson of Council, grandchildren, Hailey Thomas, Roger Barton, Jeniann Barton and Cody Johnson, great-grandchildren, Aalayah, Makinna, Wesley and Colton, brothers, Edgar (Betty Jo) Hackney of FL, Michael (Sue) Coleman of Birchleaf, a sister, Joyce (Wayne) Boyd of Grundy and sisters-in-law, Barbara Hackney and Dorothy Coleman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Haysi Funeral Home with Jerry Vitatoe officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Family Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Roger Barton, Anthony and Douglas Boyd, Matthew and Jake Coleman, Parker and Connor Snead and Mitchell Thomas.
