Obituary for Scottie Mullins

Clintwood, VA- Scottie Mullins, age 63, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Born June 25, 1956, he was a son of the late Alfred and Georgia Mae (Hall) Mullins, after their passing he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Ted and Dorothy Newberry. He was a Haysi High School graduate, playing football in school. He volunteered many years as a Little League Baseball Coach. He was last employed 30 plus years by the Sanitation Department as a truck driver. Scottie enjoyed good food, hobbies, crafts, playing and fishing with the grandkids and especially fishing with his son, Bear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Susie Mullins and brother, Palmer Mullins.
Left to mourn his loving wife of 41 years, Loretta, a daughter, Cassandra Renee (Terry) Mullins of Clintwood and a son, Alfred Ted “Bear” (Brittany) Mullins of Clintwood, a brother, Buster (Marilyn) Mullins of Haysi, a sister, Phyllis (Jeff) Mullins of Clintwood, granddaughters, Cheyenne Nicole, Chloe Faye Lynn, Cheltan Rain and Riley Alexis, mother-in-law, Dollie Lorene Mullins and a special little boy named Axton (his little budro)and several nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Haysi Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Vitatoe officiating. Burial will follow in Newberry Cemetery, Clintwood, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Adhering to Covid-19 restrictions set forth by the government. Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
