Haysi, VA – Roy Newsome, age 63 of Old Spring Road, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of Dorothy Deel Newsome and the late Clancy Newsome. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Newsome.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Melody Newsome, three sisters, Patty (Nolan) Deel of Birchleaf, VA, Kate (Ernie) Deel of Tazewell, VA, and Tammy (Elder David) O’quinn of Haysi, two brothers, Elder Jerry (Carrolea) Newsome of Haysi and Elder Eddie (Leasha) Newsome of Birchleaf, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the Parrot Deel Cemetery, Haysi with Elders Frank Newsome and David O’quinn officiating. A visitation will start at 10:00 adhering to the Corona virus guidelines set forth by the government. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
