Haysi, VA- Essie Coleman, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was a daughter of the late Oliver and Mindy Deel Coleman. She was a homemaker, member of Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church and was baptized July 4, 1970. She enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music, eating her favorite foods and watching her T.V. programs. She always enjoyed talking to her visitors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Vandora Boyd, Vernie Yates, Orpha Yates, Evaline Coleman and Pearlie Jane Coleman, brothers, Sherman, Emory, Casby and George Washington Coleman.
Survivors include two sisters, Lexie (John) Hicks and Sylvia (Ivan) Boyd and brothers, David (Merlene) Coleman and Bernice Coleman and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders, Andy Deel, Jimmy Amos, Mark Justice, Roger Coleman and Denny Deel officiating. Burial will follow in Bart Deel Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the church with an evening service each night at 7:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Cumberland Mountain Community Services, their management and staff and three special nurses that are family, Drema Harmon, Alisha Boyd and Darlene Burks, she was blessed to have you all by her side.
