VIRGINIA LORENE STANLEY
Vansant, VA- Virginia Lorene Stanley, age 77, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 following an extended illness. Born and raised in Haysi, she was a daughter of the late Clement and Martha Mullins Stanley. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing and her kids. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Michael Musick, a brother, Kenneth Stanley and sisters, Rita Stanley, Dessell Musick and Irene Anderson.
She is survived by a daughter, Melessa Musick Hagy and husband, David of Vansant, three grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, Shannon Newberry (Neeka Dotson) of Roseanne, VA, Brandon Musick and special caretaker and granddaughter-in-law, Dawn Stacy of Harman, VA, Holly Newberry–Nickels (Chris Nickels) of Grundy and Kailey Newberry of Vansant, two brothers, James A. (Gaye) Stanley, Sidney (Lorene) Stanley and a sister, Alice (Gary) Ratliff all of Haysi and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Willard E. Stanley Cemetery, Haysi, VA with Bill Neeley officiating. Pallbearers will family and friends. Special thanks to Buchanan General Hospital staff and Dr. J.G. Patel for kindness, patience and excellent care. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to help with burial.
