Obituary for Jearl Sutherland

Richmond, VA- Jearl Sutherland, age 89, originally from Bristol, passed away in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the home of his daughter, Brenda. Born January 1, 1931 in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Willie and Mae Owens Sutherland. He was a member and Deacon of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin, Earl, brother, Duane, a sister, Clara Presley, a sister-in-law, Lannie Sutherland and brother-in-law, Ray Willis.
Left to mourn is his loving wife of 69 years, Carra, a daughter, Brenda (Jerry) Davis of Richmond, two sons, Jeff (Judi) Sutherland of TN and Mike (Brenda) Sutherland of NC, a sister, Lois Willis of Richmond and a brother, Norman Sutherland of Bristol, 12 grandchildren, Brandy, April, Jerry Lee, Daniel, David, Mark, Matthew, D.J. Stephanie, Rick, Deana Hannah, and Rachel, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Watt Presley, a sister-in-law, Penny Sutherland and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2020 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Don Stacy, Garnell Gilbert, Jim O’quinn, Jim Duty and Roger Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Sutherland Cemetery, Lick Creek, VA. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, Norman Sutherland, Buck Duty and Watt Presley.
