Haysi, VA- Charlotte Yates, age 50, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at her home. Born in Richlands, VA, she was a daughter of Homer and Linda Yates Compton. She was last employed as a teacher at Ridgeview Middle School and had also taught at Sandlick and Clintwood Elementary Schools, teaching 13 years. She was a member of Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Lane.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Moscoe Yates Jr., two sons, Cody and Jasmine Yates and Jeremy and Sarah Yates both of Haysi, grandchildren, Knox, Clayton, Jep, Isaac and Noel and a sister, Jennifer and Ricky J. Owens.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Roger Coleman, Rick Mullins, Ralph Mullins, Denny Deel and Mark Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Compton Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Family and friends. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
