Obituary

Haysi, VA- Joyce Ann Turner Viers, age 74, went to sleep in the Lord’s arms on Sunday, November 17, 2019. Born July 22, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Trula Turner. She attended Haysi High School and graduated a year early so she could marry the love of her life-Johnny Viers. They moved to Michigan to work. Then they came to Haysi to run an appliance store for several years and other businesses. Joyce was a faithful-devoted member of Sandlick Primitive Baptist’s Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Dean Viers.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Viers, her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Kelli Viers, granddaughter, Melody (Brad) Hill, great-grandchildren, Josie and Julian Hill, sisters, Sue Rose, Judy (Larry) Compton, Pauline Stanley, Alfreda (Kristy) Mullins and a brother, John (Becky) Turner and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Brian Moore, Roger Rose, Jim Duty, Shawn Dotson and Jeff Dotson officiating. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to funeral services. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at R.D. Viers Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be John Turner, Michael Rose, Jason and Brett Compton, Keith and Kent Woods, Gilmer Childress and Tim Wampler. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Viers, Randy Mullins, Clayton Belcher, Kenny Hill and Deacons of Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church 381 Hager Mtn. Loop, Haysi, VA 24256.

Johnny, Donald and family; I'm so very sorry for the loss of your precious Joyce. The last time I saw Joyce she had the pretty smile and that was the day I picked Johnny up and took him to Ruby Mullins funeral. She kept thanking me for doing that.
