Birchleaf, VA – Sandra Jean Sutherland, age 63, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. Born in Haysi, VA, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Flora Yates Hess. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Sutherland, and two siblings, Kenny Hess and Connie Hess.
Survivors include her children; Pat (Misty) Sutherland of Haysi and Cherida (Todd) Owens of Birchleaf, four grandchildren; Chasity (Tristan) Hayes, Brittany Church, Shae Sutherland, and Jade Church, a sister, Joan (Johnny) Lester, and a brother, Benny (Bonnie) Hess.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Tarpon Freewill Baptist Church with Darrell Thacker officiating. The family will receive friends after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the memorial service. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
