Obituary for Freddie Clifford "Tip" Duty

Vansant, VA – Freddie “Tip” Clifford Duty, age 77 of Hurricane Creek passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at his residence. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Bradley and Sena Gilbert Duty. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA 7170 and a member and deacon of Duty View Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Nettie McCowan and Lois Ann Fields.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Owens Duty; children, Freda Gay Duty, Sena Belle (Tim) Charles, Freddie Scott Duty and Becky (Gary) Oquinn; step children, Terry (Stephanie) Counts and Austin Counts; grandchildren, Devin Scott (Mariah) Duty, Lyrissa (Cody) Duty and Jescenia Duty; step grandchildren, Sydnee Counts and Brady Counts; brothers, Haskell Duty, Garnett “Buck” (Marcella) Duty, Dean (Ginger) Duty, Tom (Terry) Duty, James (Annette) Duty and Rick Duty; sisters, Alice Fay (Russell) Lester, Delphia Harris and Betty Sue Hess.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Garnell Gilbert, Jim Duty, Barrett McGlothlin, Don Stacy and Noah Kim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery, Bee, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Deacons of Duty View Primitive Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
