Vansant, VA- Lorene Deel, age 88, of Murphy Road, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Ercil Sykes Rasnake. She was a homemaker and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lona Bishop, Lemorra Presley and an infant, Susie Catherine and a brother, William Rasnake.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Bryan Deel, two sons, Michael (Melanie) Deel of Wise and Greg (Debbie) Deel of Vansant, a daughter, Diana (Charlie) Sparks of Medina, OH, sisters, Ellen Presley of Bee, Lucille Smith of Elkhorn, KY, Jane Presley and Marlene Breeding both of Davenport, Janice (Frank) Deckert of Houston, TX and Gail Williams of Crewe, VA and a brother, Monroe (Florence) Rasnake of Rose Hill, VA, grandchildren, Lori (Nick) Sluss, Travis (Jennifer) Deel, Hannah (Andy) Mallory, Melissa (David) Dumitrescu, Daniel Sparks, Nathan (Megan) Deel, Jordan Triplett and Jessica Owens, great-grandchildren, Bennett and Jocelyn Sluss, Isaiah and Judah Deel and Ella and Otto Dumittrescu.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Jim Duty, Garnell Gilbert and Barrett McGlothlin officiating. Burial will follow in Deel Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Deel and Deacons of the Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the funeral home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. with Noah Kim Edwards, Jim O’quinn and Carl Burmier officiating.
