Breaks, VA – Patricia Sluss Epling, age 74, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Garmon and Maxie Nowlin Sluss. She was a homemaker and member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Scottie B. Epling, a brother, Carley Sluss and a sister, Madeline Shortridge.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela Michelle (Frankie) Lockhart of Ash Camp, KY and Tammy Sue (Doug) Smith of Big Rock, VA, a son, Timothy Wayne Bailey of Elkhorn City, KY, grandchildren; Jade (Johnny) Cavins, Eddie Smith (Megan), Jasmine Akers (Justin), Brenden Epling, Austin Smith (Gracie), Lyndsey Smith (Justin), Lance Lockhart, Logan Lockhart, and several great-grandchildren, a sister, Sonja McCowan of Clintwood, VA, brothers, James Archie (Carolyn) Sluss and Danny (Sandy) Sluss both of Haysi, VA,
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church with Danny Sluss and Edgar Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law, and Justin Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Prater Rescue, Rescue 33, Pikeville Medical Center Staff, and family and friends.
