DONALD PARKAS OWENS
Haysi, VA- Donald Parkas Owens, age 82, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late John and Berthie Owens. He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and a 1958 Haysi High School graduate. He retired from Clinchfield Coal Co. in 1994 and was a member of the Virginia Squares and Haysi Kiwanis for over 20 yrs. Don was a member of UMWA local #2274 and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph (Faye) Owens.
Survivors include his wife of 59 yrs., Tana Owens, sons, Jeff (Missy) Owens and Greg (Jennifer) Owens both of Haysi, three grandsons, Jordan (Candyce) Owens of Stuart, Tanner Owens of Bluefield and Tyler Owens of Haysi, sisters, Helen Owens and Wilma (Mike) Fuller both of Haysi, brothers, Jerry (Dorsie) Owens of Castlewood, Eddie (Ann) Owens of Haysi and Gary (Loretta) Owens of Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to funeral services. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at Arrington Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Duff, Mickey, Joey, Terry, Kevin, Jordon, Tanner and Tyler Owens.
