JOHN PAUL GILBERT
Clinchco, VA- John Paul Gilbert, age 56 of Low Gap Road, passed away, Sunday, April 21, 2019 after a long hard battle with cancer. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of Della Ruth Gilbert Baker and the late Kenneth Ray Gilbert. He was retired from Buchanan County School Systems and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Sarah Gilbert and Noah and Nancy Lester and a brother, Kenneth David Gilbert.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss, his mother, Della Ruth Gilbert Baker, his wife, Ladonna Gilbert, a son, Jonathan Gilbert, two grandchildren, Trenton and Alexa, brothers, Charles Gilbert and wife, Lilina and Marcus Gilbert, a sister, Pamela Sue Perrigan Bowman and husband, Lonzie, nephews, Justin and Ryan, Raymond, Justin and Jessie and nieces, Rachel, Kendra and Amira.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Junior Deel and Grey Edwards officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Gilbert Family Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Lonzie Bowman and Charles, Raymond, Ryan, Daniel and Marcus Gilbert. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to funeral services.
