Birchleaf, VA- Joyce Gail Brooks, age 72 of Frying Pan Road passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Clyde and Gladys Minnix Brooks. She was a homemaker and was of the Old Time United Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Edith Stallard, Liz Stanley, Louise Brooks, Lola Mae Kennedy, Shirley Brooks,Doris Adams,Jack Brooks, Bud Brooks and D.J. Brooks.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Rose, daughters, Kim (Tod) Fowler of FL and Jessica (Jason) Blankenship of Richlands, sons, Allen (Amanda) Brooks of Chilhowie and Jonathan (Crystal) Brooks of Wytheville, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brothers, Don (Roxie) Brooks of Birchleaf and Michael (Karen) Brooks of MI, a sister, Betty Gilbert of Abingdon and extended family, Cheyenne Lester and Mary Ann Lester.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Bill Knoskie officiating. Burial will follow in Brooks-Rose Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Pallbearers will be her children and grandchildren. The family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, prior to funeral services.
