Bee, VA – Homer Ward Deel, age 82, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Lindel McCoy Deel and Flora Velva Combs Deel. He was a member of Frying Pan Independent Freewill Baptist Church, owner and operator of Deel’s Hardware and Furniture, and a Jack of all trades and master of many. Homer loved his family and meeting with friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glenna Owens, and half-sisters; Bonnie Bailey and Helen Johnson.
Survivors include daughters; Joy (Gary) Willis and Ambra Deel (Douglas Fleming), sons; Darren Deel (Angie Edwards), Kevin (Colleen) Deel, and Zern Deel (Blade), a lifelong friend, Helen Owens, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, two brothers; Jarel (Ilene) Deel and Clifton (Wanda) Deel and two sisters; Pat Messer and Mary Lou Duty.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Paul Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Deel Family Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Grandsons, great-grandsons, and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26 at the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
