Haysi, VA- Scott Dana Owens, age 52, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018. Born April 9, 1966 in Grundy, VA, he was a son of Beulah Mae Wright Owens and the late Daniel Ray Owens. He was last employed as a coal truck driver. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Lee Owens, a sister, Lucretia Rae Owens, paternal grandparents, Arthur and Elsie Owens and maternal grandparents, Everette and Chrissie Wright.
In addition to his mother those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 31 years, Debbie Lynn Owens, two sons, Zachary Todd Owens of the home and Alexander Kyle Owens of Knoxville, TN, brothers, Dennis Owens, Randy Owens and wife Mona of Haysi and Eric Owens and wife Patty of Pounding Mill, sisters, Sheila Thacker of Loris, S.C., Wilma Prater and husband Danny of Abingdon and Barbara Thacker and husband, Terry of Haysi, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder A.L. Yates officiating. Burial will follow at A.J. Edwards Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Pallbearers will be Kyle Owens, Jacob Fletcher, Christopher Owens, Paul Owens, Ranson Owens and Donnie Compton. Honorary pallbearers will be David Clevinger, Cody Fletcher, Don Moorefield, Shawn Owens, Anthony Childress, Danny Prater and Terry Thacker. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with a song service at 7:00 p.m. with Gospel Grass Trio.
