Clyde Conaway
Haysi, VA – Clyde Conaway, age 87 of Greenbrier, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Elder Kilby and Sydney Deel Conaway. A 1955 graduate of Grundy High School, he was a US Army Veteran, a retired coal miner, a member of Pawpaw Old Regular Baptist Church and the last living member of his generation in his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Conaway; a son, Darrell Conaway, a daughter-in-law, Susan and an infant sister, Ethel Conaway.
Survivors include a daughter, Valerie (Vernon) O’Quinn of Haysi, VA; a son, David (Charlene) Conaway of Haysi, VA; grandchildren, Chris, Kelli, Jessica, Michele, Whitney and Elizabeth; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Mark Justice, Terry O’Quinn and Jackie Yates officiating. Burial will follow in the Conaway Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 9:00 a.m. on Friday for visitation, prior to funeral service.
