Moscoe Yates

Haysi, VA – Moscoe Yates, age 78 of Owens Branch passed away April 10, 2018 after a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County he was a son of the late Ervin and Velvie Roberts Yates. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a toddler son Avery and an infant sister, Mary Magdeline.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Fannie Yates; his children Della (Randy) Deel of Bristol, VA, Bernice Yates of Vansant, VA, Teresa (Dexter) Yates, Moscoe (Charlotte) Yates, Jr., Regina (Scotty) Swiney and Randy (Heather) Yates all of Haysi, VA. He was a proud poppaw of 9 grandchildren; Michelle (Jason) Fuller, Lisa Adkins, Whitney Yates, Cody (Jazmine) Yates, Jeremy (Sarah) Yates, Travis (Staci) Swiney, Jacob Yates, Madison Yates and Courtney Swiney; 9 great grandchildren, Abigail Fuller, Logan Fuller, Landon Yates, Kylie Yates, Knox Yates, Kendall Yates, Clayton Yates, Isaac Yates and Noah Swiney; two sisters, Elsie Bartley of Haysi, VA and Irene (Gary) Steria of Fillmore, CA and a brother, Billy Ray (Debbie) Yates of Haysi, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Roger Coleman, Ralph Mullins, Mark Justice, Rick Mullins and Andy Deel officiating. Burial will follow in the Parrott Deel Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Son-in-laws and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
