Obituary for Rita Pauline Newsome (Turner)
RITA PAULINE NEWSOME
Haysi, VA- Rita Pauline Newsome, age 62 of Willie Yates Road, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. Born in Grundy, VA she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Millie Woods Turner. She was a 1975 graduate of Haysi High School and was last employed as a CNA at Heritage Hall and a member of Little David Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Greyson Coal Street, brothers, R.C., David, James and Eugene “Babe” Turner and sisters, Emma Jean and Barbara.
Survivors include her husband, Frankie Newsome, two daughters, Chrissondra Powitzky and Sharonda (Bobby) Street, a granddaughter, Abby O’Quinn, a sister, Mary Deel, a brother Hardaway (Norma) Turner both of Clintwood and a special friend, Rosie Turner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Little David Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders James McClanahan, Terry Bryant, Junior Ruggles and Frank Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Turner Family Cemetery, Clinchco, VA. Pallbearers will be nephews and Bobby Street and great-nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the church with an evening service each night at 7:00 p.m.
