James Olin Deel
Birchleaf, VA – James Olin Deel, age 73 of Slick Hollow Road, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at his residence. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late James Arthur and Alice Looney Deel. He was a graduate of Grundy High School, member of UMWA Local #7170, a retired truck driver, and of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Ann Deel and Lora Lee Deel.
Survivors include his wife, Scema Deel, a son, John Deel of Birchleaf, a daughter, Vanessa Lynn (Scotty) Ball of Birchleaf, two brothers, Billy Ralph Deel of Haysi and Verner Ray (Sandra) Deel of Prater, four grandchildren; Jessica, Ashley, Wendy, and Caitlyn, and four great-grandchildren; Makenzie, Conner, Ava, and Christian.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Parrot Deel Cemetery, Haysi with Elder Denny Deel officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com. Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
