Haysi, VA- George Moses Deel, age 79 of Greenbrier Road, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Emory Floyd and Nancy Jane Deel. He was a retired school teacher and bus driver for Buchanan County and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer, Joe, Earl, Robert and David and sisters, Ocie Hill and Rosa Mae Ramey.
Survivors include a brother, Emory Deel of Gray, TN, a niece, Brenda Blankenship of Haysi, a great-nephew, Jimmy (Trish) Blankenship of Haysi, great-great nieces, Laken (Casey) Lester of Grundy and Beverly Blankenship of Haysi, a great-great nephew, Cody Blankenship of Haysi and a great-great-great niece, Hailee Rose Lester also other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Roger Coleman, Mark Justice, and Andy Deel officiating. Burial will follow in Deel Family Cemetery, Greenbrier, VA. Pallbearers will be Cody Blankenship, Ralph Coleman, Gallie Deel, Jimmy Darrell Deel, Casey Lester and Bobby Lester. Honorary pallbearers will be Freda Powers, Lincare employees and Dr’s and staff of Bristol Regional Hospital.
